River Thurne Boat Covers

The River Thurne flows approximately 9 miles through the northern Norfolk Broads, connecting the open waters of Horsey Mere and Martham Broad to the River Bure at St Benet's Abbey junction. The river is defined by its absolute flatness and the sense of space that makes the Broads unique in the British Isles: wide reed-lined banks, distant windmills, and enormous open skies. Potter Heigham, with its famous medieval stone bridge — a notorious challenge for larger Broads cruisers that must shoot the arch at the right state of tide — is the main centre of boating activity. Thurne Mill, a picturesque drainage windmill on the riverbank, is one of the most photographed landmarks in Broadland. The river connects at Martham to the isolated northern Broads accessible only by boat. The exposed Broadland landscape provides no shelter from the strong easterly winds that sweep in from the North Sea, making well-fitting boat covers particularly important.
