More Common Questions
How do I know which type of cover is right for my boat?
For most moored boats, a tonneau cover is the right starting point — it's cost-effective, easy to use, and provides good protection for cockpit and deck. If you need to shelter in the cockpit while moored, or need side protection in addition to overhead cover, a full canopy is the better choice. For narrowboats, cratch covers are the usual first purchase. Read our cover types guide for more detail.
Can you make a cover without my existing one?
Yes, in two ways. First, if your boat model is on our list of 170+ models, we hold a pattern already and can make a cover without you sending anything. Second, if you have no existing cover and your model isn't on the list, photographs of the boat from all four sides, combined with a few key measurements (LOA, beam, cockpit dimensions), allow us to produce an accurate cover for most standard boat configurations.
How should I store my cover when not in use?
Clean the cover thoroughly before storage, allow it to dry completely, and fold loosely (avoid sharp folds in PVC, which can crack at fold lines over time). Store in a breathable bag or loosely folded in a dry locker. Never store a wet or damp cover in a sealed container — mould develops quickly at the fold lines in warm, damp conditions.
Do you repair covers you didn't originally make?
Yes. We carry out window replacements, zip repairs, seam re-stitching, and hem repairs on covers from any manufacturer. The postal repair service works the same way as the copy service — post the cover to us, we repair it and post it back. Repairs from £190. Read about our repair service.
