Improving Your Cover's Performance

The right accessories make a good cover work even better. Here's what's available and when each item is worth having.

Ventilation Panels

For covers used during winter storage, a ventilation panel — a woven mesh insert that allows air through but not rain — significantly reduces condensation beneath the cover. Particularly useful on boats with wooden elements (sole boards, frames, trim) that suffer in sealed, damp environments. We fit these during manufacture at minimal additional cost, or they can be retrofitted to an existing cover.

Support Poles

Flat tonneau covers over large cockpit areas can sag at the centre, creating a pool that puts load on the cover fabric and attachment points. A central support pole — typically an adjustable stainless steel post — creates a ridge that sheds water to the sides. Adjustable posts are widely available from chandleries and are compatible with any cover that has a centre attachment point.

Additional Securing Straps

For boats in exposed moorings or tidal locations, additional buckle straps attached to deck cleats provide security beyond the standard press stud hem. We can add extra strap positions during manufacture, specifying the exact cleat positions on your boat. Ask when ordering.

Spare Fittings

We supply replacement press studs, vent inserts, and buckle straps for covers we have made. These are supplied at cost as a service to existing customers. Contact us with your cover reference and the fittings you need.
