Shetland Boat Covers
Shetland boats are among the most popular GRP cruisers on UK inland waterways. Built from the 1970s through to the 1990s, they were known for their practical cockpit layout, economical running, and robust GRP construction — qualities that have kept them popular with canal and river boaters to this day.
Whether you own a compact Shetland 4+2 for day cruising or a larger Shetland 570 or 640 for extended trips, UK Boat Covers makes bespoke replacement covers to fit your exact model. Every cover is cut and stitched in our Carterton workshop from marine-grade materials, with covers sent to you by post — no site visit required.
We cover all 28 Shetland models in our database, from the entry-level Cadet and Speedo to the larger Shetland 760 and Greyling 618. If you can send us your measurements, we can make your cover.

About Shetland Boat Covers
Shetland Boats was established in the early 1970s and became one of the most prolific GRP cruiser builders in the UK. Their range grew from compact dayboats like the Cadet and Speedo through to larger cabin cruisers such as the 760 and Greyling 618, with production continuing until the late 1990s. The popularity of models like the Shetland 4+2 and 535 on canals and rivers means that replacement covers for Shetland boats are among our most frequent orders. Durable GRP construction has kept a large number of Shetland boats in active cruising condition, and many owners rely on bespoke replacement covers to keep their boats protected when not in use.

How do I order a replacement cover for my Shetland?
You have two options. You can measure your boat yourself following our online measurement guide, then send us the dimensions by email or through the contact form. Alternatively, use our postal copy service — send us your old worn cover and we make an exact replacement, then post the new cover back to you.
Our Shetland boat covers are made in the UK using marine-grade acrylic canvas in a range of colours. Each cover is produced to the measurements of your specific model — we hold pattern data for the most popular Shetland models, and for less common variants we work from measurements or a copy of your existing cover. Covers are fitted with bungee cord or press-stud fastenings depending on the model, and all seams are double-stitched for added strength. We dispatch completed covers by tracked delivery to any UK address, typically within 6 working days of receiving your order.
Ordering a replacement Shetland cover is straightforward. Contact us with your model name and we will check whether we hold a pattern for it. If a pattern is on file, we will confirm the key measurements we need from you. If we do not hold a pattern, you can either measure your boat yourself using our online measurement guide and send us the dimensions by email, or post us your old worn cover and we will use it as a cutting template for an exact replacement. All covers are made to order in our UK workshop using marine-grade acrylic canvas and dispatched by tracked delivery direct to your door. We aim to complete every order within 6 working days of receiving your measurements or old cover, and we deliver to any address in the UK at no extra charge.
